The transformer replaces the controller temporarily to help locate short circuits and cable leakage to earth in decoder field wiring.
The powerful faultfinding Transformer will instead pump 30VAC into the decoder cable, despite shorts, enabling the Clamp Meter to be used to find them. 30VAC is not known to harm any decoder.
Additional circuits in the Transformer facilitate the measurement and location of earth leakage from the decoder cable using the Clamp Meter (see in related products).
